All companies mentioned are local to Pittsburgh unless otherwise noted. To listen to this summary, rather than read it, click play on the voiceover above, or check out the podcast on Apple Podcasts. Here’s the latest:
Ansys, a Canonsburg-based company that builds engineering simulation software, entered into an acquisition agreement with a company called Diakopto. Diakopto specializes in semiconductor design software, which will complement Ansys’s software that is focused around semiconductor simulation. Pending regulatory review, the acquisition deal is expected to close sometime in Q2.
Sheetz opened an innovation hub in Bakery Square that will house officez and meeting spacez for tech workerz, data scientistz, and other employeez. The opening was accompanied by much fanfare, with several local politicianz stopping by and many cocktailz.
In a huge technological achievement for sauce fans everywhere, Kraft Heinz revealed a digital sauce dispenser that allows you to make up to 200 different combinations of Heinz sauce flavors. The first of these machines will be available in limited restaurants later this year. (As someone who really enjoys Coca-cola Freestyle machines, I am super excited to give this a try.)
A New York City-based developer has announced plans to further develop the area along the river by the 31st Street Bridge in the Strip District. This would put four new mixed-use buildings in close proximity to many of the other budding tech company HQs in the area.
That’s all for now. Yinz have a great week now!
